Mobile Apps
iOS and Android apps built for the work environments they'll actually be used in — including the ones with no reliable network.
Mobile apps for field teams, operations and customer-facing use have a different set of requirements to consumer apps. The user isn't in an office. The network is unreliable. The device gets handed between shifts. The interface needs to work gloved, outdoors, under time pressure. We build for that context from the start.
We've shipped production mobile software in our own products: Electrify Payroll for production floor time tracking, Who's Here? for site sign-in, and others that run daily in NZ businesses. Offline-first by default means the app works even when connectivity doesn't; data syncs when the network's back. That's not an edge case for field operations, it's the normal state.
- iOS and Android development (native or cross-platform depending on requirements)
- Offline-first architecture: the app functions without network, syncs when connectivity returns
- Secure local storage and on-device data handling, so sensitive data doesn't require constant connectivity
- Backend API development where needed, or integration with your existing systems
- User interface designed for real working conditions, not an office demo
- App store submission and ongoing update management
Quick questions
Native or cross-platform?
Depends on the requirements. Cross-platform frameworks cover most use cases well and mean one codebase for both platforms. Native is warranted when platform-specific capabilities or performance requirements demand it. We'll recommend what fits, not what's easiest for us to build.
What does offline-first actually mean in practice?
The app stores what it needs to function locally. Actions taken without connectivity are queued and synced when the network returns. The user doesn't get a 'no connection' error that stops them working — they just work, and the data catches up. For field operations this is the difference between a tool that helps and one that gets abandoned.
Can you integrate with our existing systems?
Yes. The app typically talks to your systems through an API layer, which we either build or integrate with if it already exists. We don't require you to rip out what's working on the back end.
We've shipped systems still running a decade later.
Custom software, AI agents and automation for real business problems. We design, build and run production systems — not prototypes. We ship working software that scales from a first version to national platforms. All of Build →
